AUXMFG identity and the Coffin Series
One line weight and one color, from a hand drawing to a printed box, a banner, and a patch.
The problem
A young product maker needed an identity that could live on a box, a laser-etched part, a banner, a patch, and a website, all printed in one color.
Drawn by hand
I hand-illustrated the whole library: the skull, the flower, the grenade, the kanji. One line weight and one color, so any piece can be a sticker, a laser mark, a box panel, or a patch.
The pattern on the template
I built the marks into a one-color pattern and laid it on the vendor’s box template, 7.5 × 4.13 inches. The template was the vendor’s E-flute model 160163, on 1.5mm board. The line also includes a rigid two-piece box, a kraft folder with a sticker sheet, an 8-SKU label set, hang tags, and an info card. Each went from the vendor template to press-ready art.
The Coffin box is a two-piece box shaped like a coffin. The pattern wraps the bottom. The top carries the marks one by one. With it come the hang tag, front and back, and two keychain shapes.
As printed
The flower box and the pattern box, back from the printer, shot in my studio.
Out in the world
The banner, the dealer sign, and two embroidered patches. The product library is 1,848 files across 12 product families. The mark is on the blade.
The mark system in vector
The Deadhead is the primary logo. The Coffin lockup is the general-purpose stamp that goes on the product, and the blackletter wordmark spells the name out in full. All of them are real vector, trimmed to measured ink bounds, and colored by currentColor, so one symbol works on light and dark grounds.
The pair is fixed. Wordmark width is 1.25× the mark. The gap is the mark height divided by 6. Clearspace is half the mark height.
