Make
Excursion case and the Anorak
A bow case and a piece of outerwear, drawn so a factory can build them without a call back.
The problem
Hoyt needed a bow case and a piece of outerwear that a factory could build without a call back to the designer. I designed both, and Hoyt built them from the files.
Drawn like CAD
I designed the Excursion case in Illustrator, drawn the way you would draw it in CAD, with internal size tolerances. Four tech packs over three years. The 2023 pack is front, back, sides, open, and hardware. The 2026 drawing sits beside Excursion 3.0 as made.
As made
Excursion 3.0, built from the drawing.
Every dimension
The 2027 pack adds a detachable arrow case. Every view and component is drawn, then every dimension. The case is 40 inches long, 17 inches wide, and 5 inches deep. It opens flat to 36 inches wide. The arrow case is 25.5 inches long. Every pull and handle is measured.
The pack holds front, top, and back views, the detachable arrow case, the case open with the bow in place, and the hardware: pulls, clips, and the D-ring.
The Anorak
I designed the garment itself: the panels, the pockets, the hood, and every color. Hoyt made it from the tech pack. Four colorways, each with its own thread and trim.
Version two, drawn close
Design version two is pocket placement, panels, hood, and hem. Pocket openings, the hood, and the cuffs are drawn close.
The process is sketch, then a CAD-style vector drawing, then a dimensioned tech pack, then a vendor sample, then a revision, then production. The next year starts from the made product.
